Saturday, January 30, 9am - noon
we'll be working with the Tarheel Trailblazers and Josh Patterson of the Anne Springs Close Greenway to construct a new section of trail at Anne Springs' Sugar Island Loop. The rain date - and possible second work date - is
Saturday, February 6, 9am-noon
. If you have never participated in trailwork before, here's a partial list of the remarkable benefits:
1. Exercise! Not too hard, more like a vigorous hike, with some upper body workout with a shovel or hoe!
2. Fresh air and nature! The woods in winter are a wonderful experience, and you can really see the lay of the land when the trees have their clothes off!
3. Terrific comraderie and just plain fun! You KNOW this, if you hang around Dirt Divas!
4. Satisfaction! When you ride the section you "built" (even years later) you'll sense pride in "your" section of trail
For the ASCG trailwork, we'll park at the Elementary school that is just down the road from the Field Trial Barn, and before the intersection of Hwy 160 where you would turn right to go the Recreation Complex. We'll send a map the week before. In addition, there will be a Soup lunch to follow - meeting either at the Complex or FT Barn, TBD, and a bike ride if trail conditions and energy levels allow!
This is a busy time for Dirt Diva volunteer needs. Our primary commitment is for the Winter Short Track Series Races
on Sunday mornings, so, if you have limited time available for volunteering, please consider the Short Track needs FIRST. However, if perhaps you have the Saturday morning available, please seriously consider joining us.
More information should have reached you by email. Post here if you did not receive. See you there!
