The red arrows are for optional trails. This trail is very
rooty and does have a steep downhill known as the Devil's
Drop that is an option. There is a large gravity cavity that
has multiple approaches. There are a few additional technical
spots such as a very large rock with smaller rocks at the
base as well as a small rock garden. It is a fun fast trail
if you don't mind all the roots. |

Great trail with some killer uphills. However, new construction has made
it possible to bypass the hills. The trail follows the riverfront
in various place and has an occasional tricky turn, one known
as the "carpet". This
trail is one that kicks your butt regardless how many times
you ride it. There is a fun downhill race course out in the
open field that has large rolling mounds and is dual track. |

Lexington, NC - From Charlotte travel I-85 North: Take
Exit 94 off of I-85 and go toward town on Old Hwy. 64 which
becomes Raleigh Rd. Go about 6 tenths of a mile, then turn
left onto Paul Beck Rd. The entrance to the park is the first
driveway to the right.
From Winston-Salem or anywhere north of Lexington on Hwy.
52: From North Main street in Lexington, turn onto east 5th
street. The street will change into Raleigh road after the
Davidson Plaza (Burger King, Blockbuster, K-Mart) you will
stay on Raleigh rd. past the Correctional Center and over
a small bridge. Finch Park is on your right, but the entrance
to the park is off the next road on your right at the top
of the hill (Paul Beck Rd.)

The trail is not well marked, but there are a couple of
laminated signs stapled to trees saying "this way".
There are small bridges at creek crossings and one place where
the trail zig-zags back and forth across a dry creek bed.
You can pick up a lot of speed here and get some air time
popping up on the other side! There are also a few very steep
ravines to brave, but they have alternate bypass paths for
those who don't care for that kind of thing. The trail's short
enough that you can ride it two or three times and enjoy the
fun spots again! |

Harrisburg, NC - From the University: Hwy 49 North to Harrisburg (Exit 42 on I-85 North; Exit 33 on I-485).
In Harrisburg at the intersection of Rt. 49 and Morehead (to the left) and Sims Blvd. (to the right)
turn RIGHT onto Sims Blvd. Landmarks: cemetery and Circle K on the left, Wachovia branch on the right.
Take Sims Blvd. two blocks and turn left into the Harrisburg Town Park.
Follow the park road to its end at the parking lot in front of the picnic shelter.
There is a new weather proof sign up the hill just beyond the volleyball pit to the left of the picnic shelter.
The trail begins right behind the sign.
From Concord: the Wachovia branch will be on your left, turn LEFT onto Sims Blvd. Follow directions above.
From Charlotte via Robinson Church Road: turn LEFT onto Oakley, which is the street
just before you get to Rt. 49. Follow Oakley to its end at Sims Blvd. (about 2 blocks).
Turn LEFT onto Sims Blvd. and follow the directions above.
From Charlotte via Morehead: cross Rt. 49 and go straight ahead. Morehead turns into Sims Blvd. Follow directions above.

The Harrisburg Trail is a "short track" open to all skill levels with short track
(dirt criterion) racing in mind. The trail starts at the top of the hill to the left of the picnic shelter
(standing in the parking lot, facing the shelter). You can see the trail bulletin board from the parking lot.
The trail entrance is just beyond it. The trail can be divided into 4 sections (for the purpose of referring to its parts).
Section one begins at the top of the hill, includes 4 berms and exits on to the park service road.
From there you ride up the service road about 50+ feet to the beginning of section 2, which heads off
into the woods down to the left. This is the "downhill" section, and includes 2 berms and a culvert crossing.
This section exits into a small grassy field. Travel straight into the field 100-150 ft and enter section 3
into the woods to the right. This begins the second half of the trail and is uphill until you begin your next lap.
Section 3 exits across the park walking trail. You travel straight ahead into section 4.
Section 4 exits onto the park walking trail. Go to the right and follow the park walking trail up past the shelter.
As the walking trail bears around to the left at the top of the hill you will see the trail bulletin board and the beginning of the trail. |

From Huntersville area: Take Hwy 73 (Sam Furr road)southwest
towards Lincolnton and stay there until you dead end into
Hwy 27. Take a right onto Hwy 27 and go approximately 7 miles
to a stoplight at Hwy 27 and Hwy 150. Take a left onto Hwy
150 and proceed for 6 miles. Cross over the South Fork river
and as you come up the hill look on the left for Riverview
Church Road. Take that left and Pee Wee's is on the right

This trail is awesome. It is very tight singletrack (particularly
the first section) and very fast. The trail is pretty smooth
for the most part and becomes fairly technical in the far
loop. The far loop is on the other side of the main road into
the park. This loop is about 4 miles long and has a bit more
elevation change than the other loop. Ride on the doubletrack
between the two loops and look out for horse poop. A great
trail with lots to explore. |

Almond, NC - From Charlotte, Take 85 south to Hwy 74 Kings
Mountain exit. From Hwy 74W, follow the signs to I-26W, and
from I-26W, get on I-40W. From I-40W, you will jump back on
to Hwy 74W. You will stay on Hwy 74W for quite a while before
you come to 28N just past Bryson City. 28N joins 74W for a
small stretch, and then splits off to the right. Tsali is
just a few miles up 28N on the right. The sign is very small
and on the left side of the road. Once you pass Turkey Creek
Campground, you will go approx 4-5 miles and you will see
the small green sign for Tsali Rec Area….turn right
onto the gravel road and it will take you to the parking lot,
lake or campground. |

Mouse Branch is approx 10 miles, Thompson is 7 miles, Right
and Left loops are roughly 11 miles each. |

Some say Tsali is the best riding east of the Mississippi,
and it would be hard to argue. There are 4 loops, with nearly
40 miles of trails. 2 loops will be open to mountain biking
each day, alternating with horseback riders, so plan a trip
for at least 2 days and ride all the trails. |

Cost is 2.00 per day. 2 trails alternate each day between
bikers and equestrians, so check the schedule board to make
sure you are riding the appropriate trails for that day. |
